The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) announced Tuesday
that Korea and Russia will hold a two-day meeting in Moscow, starting from
Thursday, to decide Russia's state quota for pollack fishing by Korea's
deep-sea fishers inside Russia's exclusive economic zone.
Officials from the two governments held meetings in Seoul on Nov. 22
through to 27 for the same agenda but they failed to reach any agreement.
MMAF noted that its Deputy Minister Park Jae-young will head the Korean
delegation, while Russia will be represented by Yuri Moskaltsov, deputy
chairman of the State Fishing Committee, for the meetings in Moscow.
The ministry also explained the two governments are expected to discuss
the Russia-proposed substitute saury fishing zone in the Southern Kuril
islands during the meetings.
